Just me, myself, and two dogs

This past week has been pretty busy. Scott left last Tuesday for a work trip and I've been holding down the fort with Ben and Naomi. Between working, dog walking, working out, and more dog walking I haven't had much time for anything else. I even went a few days without turning my computer on...that must be some sort of record :-) Once again our house is slowly starting to resemble what I imagine a frat house would look like. Piles everywhere and lots of pizza boxes. I already knew this but Scott is definitely the clean one in the family.

Ben and Naomi have been walking really well together lately and there has been minimal pulling on Ben's end and minimal freezing on Naomi's end. Yesterday was another story though. Naomi was at my parents and it was just Ben and I out for a walk. I was super hungry and tired from my ride when suddenly I saw the most annoying man in the neighborhood walking his dog in our direction. We were only one block away from home, so I tried to avoid eye contact and pick up the pace. But Ben saw the dog and it was game over. It's a 9 month old golden retriever and Ben looooooves this dog. Ok, Ben loves any dog but I think he especially has a thing for golden retrievers. So not only did Ben not listen to me when I said, "let's go", but he decided to plop down and lie in the middle of the street until the dog came up to us.

I'm telling you, this plopping down in the street thing has got to stop. He's only done it a few times, but each time I almost have a heart attack. At least this time there were no cars coming. To this day, I will never ever forget the time he plopped down in front of an oncoming bus. I still have to mention it on a regular basis because it was so unbelievable.

Anyways, by the time I got Ben up and out of the street the annoying guy and his dog were upon us. So, first the guy had to ask if Ben had all his shots (he asks this every time he sees Ben and Naomi.) Then he started talking about how his dog is a purebred and how his dog was the pick of the litter...and yada, yada, yada. I've heard this story at least 3 times. I wanted to point out that Ben was cuter and smarter, but the smarter part is slightly questionable. After all, he did just lie down in the middle of the street. I think it's time to work on the meaning of "let's go" again with Ben :-)

I think I actually bonked on the dog walk because walking the last block seemed like it took a half-hour. Proof that it was a really good week of training. Between Saturday and Sunday I managed to get nine hours of riding in on my Mukluk. It was completely awesome but now I'm completely wasted. Time for a rest day!!!
