Finally a day off!! From work, that is! Sleeping in until 8 this morning (after a few days of waking up at 4:45 a.m) was AMAZING and I feel like a new person!!!
Even with the early work mornings I'm off to a good start in the training department this week. On Tuesday I had my dreaded favorite-est intervals ever. That's right, I'm talking about Steady State intervals :-) It was 40 degrees outside with a few snowflakes falling, but I stayed warm and got a good 2.5 hours in. Not too shabby. And on a side note I'm really glad my coach has me doing these intervals because they DO make me stronger. And I know I wouldn't ever do them unless I had to report back to someone :-)
Yesterday was an endurance day. My favorite-est type of riding (for real). Almost 3.5 hours of riding. I did a lap at Egypt Valley, hit some gravel roads, and also got in a little pavement. The gravel roads were brutal yesterday as the gravel seemed ultra thick. Talk about a speed killer. I'm pretty sure my coach would not have been impressed by my cadence. At times I think I had a 50 rpm going.
This picture does NO justice to how thick the gravel was...
Both days had me riding until dark and I'm excited to be able to ride early today. I'm still riding my Mukluk a lot, for several different reasons.1. I love it.
2. It's awesome for training.
3. I love it.
4. It's the cleanest of all my bikes right now.
5. It has the best parts right now.
That's going to change soon though. I'm racing my SS at Lumberjack again this year, and I definitely need to start training on it sooner rather then later. I'm taking it into the Ada Bike Shop for some bike love, and hope to be riding on it by this weekend! It's going to be about 15 pounds lighter then the bike I've been training on, so I imagine that I'm going to feel a tiny bit faster going up hills!
